ATO is excited to announce the signing of Benjamin Booker, a young New Orleans based singer-songwriter. Described as “a well-mixed musical cocktail of punk, folk, and New Orleans blues”, Booker cites his influences as The Gun Club, Blind Willie Johnson, and T. Rex. Benjamin’s self-titled debut album, produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff) is available now on ATO (USA) / Rough Trade (Europe).

An esteemed colleague had this to say about Benjamin’s music:
"It’s exciting, raw, soulful, and has a brilliant relentless beat, that only those who love rock and roll truly understand.”

Step off the bus in middle America, hitchhike to the closest bar, order a few dollar beers with a shot of jack, and sit ina chair closest to the wall, so you can lean back and enjoy this album. Benjamin Booker's self-titled album, has taken me to a warm summer place to ponder life, loves, and American values as they pertain to the youth and struggling through getting by. Long ago I learned what it was like to manage on a few bucks a day and making it the best time in my life. Swimming in the lake, cruising around town on my bike, waving at friends and layin' in the grass. Carefree lifestyle with a soundtrack is what Booker has delivered. Laying down new memories for the youth of today, or bringing them back to those who left for unfortunate rigors of life. Get this album if you want to live.

As someone who spends time in New Orleans, I can tell you that Booker embodies the very best of the city's heart and soul. This album is one of the most important to come out of the city in recent years. I see Booker making an impact on the scale of some of the other great artists of New Orleans, such as Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty), Shamarr Allen, Tab Benoit and Kermit Ruffins. Kiernan M. Benjamin Booker is one of my favorite artist right now. This album mixes all types of genres like Blues, garage, little bit of punk, little bit of folk. Benjamin Booker is so skilled at guitar. I love him and this album.
